Social media platforms: what’s next (part 4)

Core Tenets:

  1. You get one account – that’s it.
  2. There is no “one” algorithm
  3. There are no community moderators, only sherpas
  4. It’s all attribute tags (this post!)
  5. AI acts as a helper, NEVER as a creator
  6. centralized platform

Tenant #4: It’s all attribute tags

In order to give sherpas as much power in creating filters as they can, we need to allow sherpas the most flexibility to sort/filter/do ranking based on the content on the platform.

To that end, the main goal of a new social media platform will be to do in-depth analysis on the content posted (most likely using AI), along with an in-depth analysis on the user who posted it, to gather as many descriptive/attribute tags about the content and user as possible. Examples could include:

  • Post attributes:
    • The post title / body
    • Whether the post is image(s) / video(s) / text
    • A short summary of the posted content (10 second description)
    • How long the post is to read / view
    • Topic tagging
    • Location of Post
      • E.g. someone posting a picture of the ocean while they are traveling in the Bahamas
    • Hashtags on posts
      • User added hashtags to the post themselves
    • Scraping content from links that are submitted
      • (Everything above, but now for the website or article itself)
        • Page Title
        • Page Body
        • Website
        • etc
  • User attributes
    • Age of user
    • Location of user
    • Known attributes of user (always posts with X hashtags, or with Y content)
